Jumpout watchers have been whispering about unraced two-year-old Jayanthi who lines up in the Magic Millions 2YO Clockwise Classic (1000m) at Ballarat on Saturday, with the daughter of Hinchinbrook at $5.50 in the market.
She closed off in impressive fashion and caught the attention of viewers and the market, but co-trainer David Eustace says it’s hard to split Jayanthi, and stablemate Lovin’ Feelin’ in Saturday’s $250,000 contest.
“Jayanthi’s jump out was impressive, she actually did jump very well but she didn’t quite get into stride as you would hope,” Eustace said.
“She obviously closed off very well and we weren’t surprised to see that but she’ll probably have to do things a little bit smarter and a little bit more professionally on the day to win a race like that.
“She’s actually a very straightforward filly, she’s got a great attitude, if anything just how laidback she is lets her down a touch, but she’ll improve with racing.
“Obviously with all two-year-old races it often comes down to how professional they are, but I think particularly at the Ballarat track when they’re turning and climbing.
“If they are not out and able to get into stride, then it can make things difficult.
“But we’re confident she has the ability, she’s just going to have to put everything together and right on the day.
“We’ve always allowed them to really improve from their trials or jump outs into their races fitness-wise and we find that their professionalism comes on a lot too.
“Hopefully she takes plenty of benefit from her (Ballarat) jump out.”
“Lovin’ Feelin’ on the other hand is a bit smarter, she’s a bit more forward going, she jumps into the bridle well and she’s obviously had a run under her belt so we’re pretty hopeful she’ll go close.
“Her run on Oaks Day was good, she was on the near side and didn’t really have a lot of help for her to find the line and I thought there was plenty of merit in that run.

“She was a little bit underdone going into the race, her fitness has improved and she looks great.
“I can’t really split them to be honest.”
