In a blow for connections, star colt Glenfiddich will miss Saturday’s 2020 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) due to a problem with his breathing.
Glenfiddich is coming out of the Caulfield Guineas and will undergo small procedure to assist with breathing. Rules Cox Plate out. @moodyracingpgm says the three year old could go to Coolmore but more likely spells.

As per Andrew Bensley’s tweet, the Stutt Stakes winner will undergo a small procedure to assist with his breathing, and will miss both the 2020 Caulfield Guineas, and the 2020 Cox Plate.
It appears that the issue is not going to cause long-term problems, with the Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) a possibility if the surgery and recovery are successful.
However, it is more likely that the son of Fastnet Rock spells for the rest of the spring.
Update: Trainer Peter Moody has also tweeted regarding the situation.
Unfortunately this afternoon I’ve had to withdraw Glenfiddich from the Caulfield Guineas. The colt has developed a epiglottic entrapment which will require minor surgery. Still some hope for Coolmore stakes derby day but more realistic will return autumn
