Shane McGrath, Aquis’ Managing Director, said that the decision was made in consultation with Farnan’s other co-owners to race the star three-year-old for the Aquis slot.
“The ownership group shares the confidence of (trainers) Gai (Waterhouse) and Adrian (Bott) that Farnan, last season’s Golden Slipper winner and champion two-year-old, will prove himself one of the fastest three-year-olds of this season and deserves his place in this year’s Everest field,” McGrath said.
“As such, Farnan will bypass the Golden Rose and be aimed at Australia’s, globally recognised, premier sprint race.”
Farnan is a $15 chance in The Everest, and joins other slot holders Nature Strip ($4), Rothfire ($6), Gytrash ($7), Classique Legend ($12), and Tofane ($15) at the top of the market.
With Farnan’s announcement as the sixth runner for The Everest, it leaves six slots remaining for the October 17th contest.
