Brooklyn Hustle is set to continue her path to possible Group 1 sprinting goals on Saturday, as she lines up in the Group 2 2020 McEwen Stakes (1000m) at Moonee Valley.

The talented mare resumed in spectacular style at the track, finding herself three pairs back on the rail and exploding through a gap to win easily, displaying her explosive turn of foot.

Watch: Brooklyn Hustle’s last start win at the Valley.

Damien Dunn is banking on the gaps opening up for her again on Saturday, with plenty of early speed in the race expected with the likes of Bella Vella, Witherspoon, and Rulership driving the tempo.

The daughter of Starspangledbanner maps to land at the back of the field on the rail, and Dunn is hoping for a similar finish to last outing.

“I worked her last Thursday at Mornington, she did the pre-race gallop on the course proper and I was really happy with her,” Dunn said.

“I think she can hopefully be a dominant force on Saturday.

“She gets good speed in the race and hopefully she can have the same finish.

“She’s going to be dictated by what happens in front of her and there will be a fair bit of traffic – she always needs some luck – but if she shows the turn of foot that she did the other day and she’s in the right spot I think she can get the job done.”

If Brooklyn Hustle continues on her upward trajectory, possible targets include the Group 1 Moir Stakes (1000m), and the Group 1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) at The Valley.

Brooklyn Hustle is currently $4.00 for Saturday’s McEwen Stakes, behind $3.20 favourite Hanseatic.
