All eyes will be on Russian Camelot in the 2020 Underwood Stakes (1800m), but there are plenty of others to keep an eye on during the day with lots of depth on the card.

It’s tough for punters to shop early with uncertainty over the weather and lots of dual acceptors thanks to Friday night’s Moir Stakes (1000m) meeting at Moonee Valley, but let’s take a look at a few that have caught our eye.

Race 1 – How Womantic

Won here fresh and will be better for the run with added fitness, and is carrying slightly less weight. There isn’t too much speed drawn near her, and she should be able to eyeball Kalkarni Royale, or even cross and lead if desired.

Looks very tough to run down, and I’m happy to get my day started with this Maher & Eustace mare.

Verdict: I’ll be backing How Womantic at $3.

Race 2 – Duke Of Plumpton

This is more of a low confidence betting race, but I’m keen for a small each way play here on Duke Of Plumpton if the rain comes. Has really good wet track form around Shot Of Irish and always returns well first up.

Verdict: If the rain comes, I’ll be on Duke Of Plumpton each way at $6/$2.25.

Race 3 – Le Baol

This is just about bet of the day for me, with Le Baol looking a cut above the rest of them in the field. He powered home with absolute ease in his first start on Australian soil, and looks a progressive type for the Lindsey Smith camp.

Verdict: I’ll be backing Le Baol at $2.30.

Watch: Le Baol do it easily in his first start down under.

Race 6 – Flying Award, Cambourne

I’m not as keen to bet in the Caulfield Guineas Prelude, but I’ll definitely be watching with interest as these talented three-year-olds continue their journey to the Caulfield Guineas.

Flying Award is the obvious watch, second in line at $8 behind Mo’unga for the Caulfield Guineas on October 10th.

Cambourne is two from two and is currently a $13 chance for that race, with Crosshaven ($15), Cherry Tortoni ($15), and Aysar ($17) also prominent in the market.

Verdict: Not betting at this stage until I see the final field and the weather, but keeping a keen eye on Flying Award and Cambourne.

Watch: Cambourne make it two from two last start.

Race 7 – Instant Celebrity, Night Raid, Mozzie Monster

It looks a cracking Thousand Guineas Prelude as these fillies gear up for the Thousand Guineas on October 10th, with Instant Celebrity, Night Raid, and Mozzie Monster looking the pick of them at the moment.

All three are very talented and it should be a good battle, with Night Raid expected to be at the front of the pack, with Mozzie Monster and Instant Celebrity flying home late.

Verdict: I’m a big fan of Night Raid and have tipped her before, so we’re returning to the well again at $4.40, but it wouldn’t surprise me if any of these three won.

Watch: Instant Celebrity fly home to win in spectacular style.

Race 8 – Russian Camelot
